More Life in the Dark: iAd

Here’s the first iAd from Diageo UK’s brand Guinness and it looks pretty damn good. This is part of a larger multi-platform digital campaign ‘There’s More Life in the Dark’. The campaign aims to inspire users to enjoy a great night out! Guinness have released this promotional video, created byTullo Marshall Warren, to demonstrate how to engage with the iAd.

KLM Inspire Facebook App

Here is a nice Facebook app from KLM. They have tapped into the Dutch national pride by inviting people to have some fun with Delft blue tiles, which are a big part of Dutch tradition! Users can decorate their profile picture, add an inspirational saying and share with friends by using the KLM ‘Tile Yourself’ Facebook App. Part of this campaign is the chance to see your Delft blue portrait displayed on a real KLM plane which will be flown around the world.

Here is a screen grab of the ‘Tile & Inspire’ Facebook app. It’s a pretty simple app but looks pretty good. It’ll be interesting to see how many people upload their portraits.

Will your face be on one of the new KLM planes? 🙂

Death Penalty: Take A Stand Digital Installation

I thought this was a pretty neat digital installation in France’s National Library, helping to raise awareness and generate petition signatures for a movement against the death penalty.

Featuring two large screens mounted on either side of a hallway, one side with a prisoner about to be executed, and the other, a soldier standing tall, aim ready. In between, on the floor, marks a large circle where people are prompted to stand, stopping the impending execution as the installation detects the person with ultrasonic sensors and a weight plate.

The installation also used a QR code on the floor to drive petition signatures instantly as they were scanned… I love the concept.

Anti-Fur iAd Campaign

I know these topics usually cause all sorts of debate, but hold that for just a moment, and enjoy this smart little “mock” iAd for VGT (an association combating animal factories in Austria) in an iPad magazine called Datums. The iAd features a girl modeling a large fur coat, but as you go to swipe past the ad, it leaves a blood mark on the page, when you swipe again, the iAd releases more and more blood onto the page, followed by the associations anti-fur message.

Pepsi Introduces Social Vending System™

Pepsi  launch its Social Vending System, a state-of-the-art networked unit that features full touch screen interactive vending technology, enabling consumers to better connect with PepsiCo brands right at the point of purchase. A prototype of the Social Vending System will debut at the National Automatic Merchandising Association’s One Show in Chicago, April 27-29.

Using digital technology, PepsiCo’s Social Vending System enables any user to gift a friend by selecting a beverage and entering the recipient’s name, mobile number and a personalized text message*. There’s also the option to further personalize the gift with a short video recorded right at the machine. The gift is delivered with a system code and instructions to redeem it at any PepsiCo Social Vending system. When the recipient redeems his or her gift, they’re given the option of either thanking the original sender with a gift of their own or paying it forward and gifting a beverage to someone else.

PepsiCo’s innovative use of telemetry with the Social Vending System also delivers tremendous operational benefits, allowing customers to closely manage inventory levels and delivery scheduling remotely, and easily update digital content online, enabling them to change messaging and media content as needed.

Magnum Pleasure Hunt: An Digital Product Campaign

Here is the latest global campaign from Magnum, this time to launch the all new Magnum Temptation Hazelnut ice-cream. To do that, they’ve created an Advergame called “Magnum Pleasure Hunt Across The Internet” and it follows the concept pioneered by the Lynx Party Across The Internet campaign, but this is much more Advergame, than the Lynx experience.

Lowe Brindfors teamed up with B-Reel to create the campaign that takes you through about 20 well known websites as you chase Bon Bons, the special ingredient in the Magnum Temptation Hazelnut ice-cream. The idea is to capture all 100 Bon Bons as you join the Magnum Pleasure Hunt Across The Internet, its not easy, but it can be done! Most of all, you’ll enjoy the experience, the creative is great and the production done amazingly well on green screens… Once you are finished the pleasure hunt, its time to load up the leaderboard and challenge your Facebook friends.

While I love the experience and fantastic execution, this concept has been done a few times before. For me, it’s just a little too long, averaging about 5 minutes start to finish… What do you think?
